Alice Malsenior Tallulah-Kate Walker (b.1944) is an American novelist, poet, and social activist. She is most known for her novel,The Color Purple, written in 1982 for which she won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. She also wrote: Meridian (1976), The Third Life of Grange Copeland (1970). Alice Walker is also known for coining the term womanist to mean “A black feminist or feminist of color” in 1983.
